This one-day course is designed for civilian firearm owners seeking a safe, practical introduction to handguns. Students will learn the fundamentals of firearm safety, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition basics and selection, handgun selection and safe storage, and essential shooting fundamentals. Instruction also covers basic marksmanship, routine pistol inspection and maintenance, and shooting range etiquette and safety.

This 1-day course provides a quick overview of the Basic Pistol before getting into more advanced pistol shooting and handling tactics. Intermediate Pistol focuses on getting the handgun out of the holster and on target more rapidly, while effectively placing shots on target, successive shooting, engaging multiple attackers, getting ourselves off the "X", shooting moving and shooting, as well as shooting while moving. We will discuss theories such as Boyd's O.O.D.A. Loop to assist in understanding how and why we do things, and how the behavioral sciences affect our reactionary and decision-making processes.
